The Catalyst

Some people are a catalyst in our lives, what is a catalyst? A catalyst is simply a lesson, it’s funny how we always say people are seasonal, we know this, but we aren’t accepting of it. Every person in our lives has a season whether it is our parents, loved ones, spouses, and even our children. We have a habit of trying to keep people around for ever, and when they try to break free, we get offended and upset. This is why we shouldn’t tell people we would never hurt them, we should never tell people “I would never leave you” , even though it is said out of the kindness of our hearts and with great belief, that is an impossible thing to live by. Everyone will eventually leave and it may not always be when you want and how you want. Not everyone leaves by death. I often hear people say “its crazy how people switch up”, when in reality, yes we switch up, we change,  we all change over the years and sometimes when change happens that means that you are no longer needed in their lives...

How to begin the healing process

It is 2018 and I think more and more people are becoming more aware of depression and how serious it is. What we haven’t done is found any natural ways to deal with it. Although acknowledging this illness is a step in the right direction, what are we to do next to start the healing process.  Well allow me to let you in on my journey. The very first thing I did was go to the behavioral health center in my city, after being there almost an hour and only speaking with the counselor for about 10 minutes I was prescribed depression and anxiety medication. After a few weeks I begin to think what would happen long term if I continued to take this and when will I stop taking it. I did not want to be dependent on this, especially because it started to bring out emotions I had learned to mask, I was angry and crying more than I had ever before, shortly after noticing that, I stopped taking it.
